The road to your driving licence

Driver's licence training is a process and consists of four compulsory steps, driving lessons and necessary quantity training. The aim is to make you a safe, independent and responsible driver who contributes to increased safety in traffic.

Through the training you develop:

  • Technical driving skills
  • Traffic understanding, overview, ability to interact with other road users
  • Risk assessment and ability to reflect

The amount of time spent on training varies from person to person, but a normal course is often between 3 and 9 months.

Time spent will vary depending on:

  • How well you work with the theory
  • Time available for practice runs
  • Smooth progression without long breaks
  • The amount of private practice driving - if you have the opportunity to do so.

Driver's licence training - 4 mandatory steps

Step 1 - Basic traffic course
  • Basic traffic understanding
    • Road safety and responsibility
  • First Aid Course
  • Driving in the dark demonstration
Step 2 - Vehicle treatment
  • Know your vehicle and safety procedures
  • Starting, stopping, steering, manoeuvring and reversing
  • Driving in low traffic areas
  • Performing security checks
Step 3 - Traffic part
  • Driving in different environments: city, tunnel, road, queues and darkness
  • Clear, efficient and safe driving
  • Eco-friendly and economical driving style
Step 4 - On-road safety training
  • Long-distance driving
  • Driving in varied traffic
  • Risk assessment and reflection on your own driving
